Immune Globulin Injections for Immunity
Immune globulin injections are being used to boost the immune system and can help to provide a good 8 weeks of immunity.  This injection can boost your immune system without putting a virus or other undesirable chemicals/preservatives into your body.

Immune globulin intramuscular (IGIM) is a sterilized solution made from human plasma. It contains the antibodies to help your body protect itself against infection from various diseases. IGIM is used to prevent or reduce the severity of infection by hepatitis A, measles, chickenpox (varicella), and rubella. IGIM is also used to prevent or reduce the severity of other infections in individuals with immunoglobulin deficiencies.

This medication is used to provide protection (antibodies) against certain virus infections (hepatitis A, measles, chickenpox, rubella) in people who have not been vaccinated or have not had the infection before. It is also used to strengthen the body’s natural defense system (immune system) to lower the risk of infection in persons with a certain immune system problem (immunoglobulin deficiency). This medication is made from healthy human blood that has high levels of certain defensive substances (antibodies), which help fight infections.

The pooled, heterogenous IgG present in IGIM provides a variety of antibodies that activate both humoral and cell-mediated immunity by allosterically interacting with many toxins, bacteria, and viruses. Studies reveal that these antibodies are capable of making the foreign cell available to be taken over by our immune cells and complement activation as well as stimulation of cell-mediated immunity. The passive immunity imparted by IGIM is capable of attenuating or preventing infectious diseases or deleterious reactions to these microbes or toxins.

If you are susceptible to blood clots, it is not recommended that you use these injections. The injections can make those who are already prone to blood clots more susceptible. There is a very low probability that viruses can be transmitted through this injection, but no case of this happening has even been identified or reported.

This injection can help protect you against viruses and bacterial infections. It has a chance to be even more effective than the flu shot because from year to year, the flu shots haven’t been that effective. When producing flu shots, they have to guess the prior year on what strains will be prevalent the following year. If they get it wrong, then many who have received the flu vaccine will still get the flu. You should not get this injection if you have already had the flu shot as it could possibly inactive your bodies response to the injected virus.  If you are a person who does not get the flu shot or always gets sick when they get the flu shot than this may be a better alternative for you.

Please schedule an appointment with Dr. Richter to talk about whether this injection would be right for you.
